There are two main practice nights for the band, the main one being on Monday night. The cost of the hire of the halls is met by the band.
Monday night practice
The main band practice is held every Monday night from 7pm at St Andrew's Church in Reading, just beside the Royal Berkshire Hospital.
The format is usually as follows:
- 19:00-19:30 Free play
- 19:30-20:00 Bagpipe warm up and early group lessons
- 20:00-20:40 Group chanter / drum pad practice
- 20:40-21:00 Tea break
- 21:00-22:00 Full band practice with pipes and drums
Thursday night practice
There is an additional band practice on Thursday nights at a school in Lower Earley. This is a session either for competition pipers or for those looking to have a more informal session where you can ask to practice anything you like. Once again there is a tea break, and usually some excellent cakes too. Contact the band for the location of this practice if you want to join in.
