Welcome to the third edition of the Reading Scottish Pipe Band Newsletter.

The band has been very busy in 2016 and we have just finished our summer engagements. The band has also had a very successful year in the local competitions, including finishing 2nd in Colchester, with just one more competition to go on Sunday 4 Sept at Chatsworth House. If you haven't manage to see us yet, come along to our 2016 concert and join us at one of our Autumn or Christmas engagements.

In this edition, we bring some exciting initial news of our 2016 band concert featuring Moira Kerr. Tickets will be on sale very soon. A limited number are available without a booking fee, so don't miss out

Great British Variety Show - Band Concert 2016 with Moira Kerr

Once again you are invited to enjoy a concert of music and dance from the band and specially invited guests on Saturday 22nd October 2016.

An afternoon of top class family entertainment featuring:

Moira Kerr - the internationally recognised Scottish songstress
Wantage Silver Band - the award winning Silver Band from Oxfordshire, England
The brilliant young performers from Maguire O'Shea Academy of Irish Dance
Hector Gilchrist - the renowned singer of traditional Irish Folk Ballards
And of course, THE READING SCOTTISH PIPE BAND

Join us for a wonderful afternoon in Reading Town Hall.
Saturday 22nd October 3pm (doors open 2pm)

Ticket are £16 for adults, £14 for concessions, and £9.50 for children

Youth Band

The Reading Scottish Pipe Band is delighted to announce the launch of a new project to attract new young players to the world of piping and drumming. Pipe Corporal, Bill Copland has been appointed as Youth Development Officer to lead the initiative.

On announcing the plan he said, “We want to find new young players between the ages of 8 and 18 who want to learn to play the bagpipes or become pipe band drummers. We have all the resources available to teach complete beginners, or develop players who already play other musical instruments. We want to form a Youth Band to play at parades and concerts alongside the senior band and ultimately develop players to move up when they are ready. A Pipe Band is a great environment for youngsters to make new friends and build teamwork and leadership skills. It’s free to learn and we’ll even provide loan instruments for beginners. Just call or email the band, or even come along on a Monday night to see us.”
